An alternative to facelift surgery you should know about

Let's talk about a great alternative to facelift surgery. If you're looking to achieve a fresher, more contoured, toned, and firmer version of yourself, keep reading. This alternative to surgery is called microcurrent.

What is microcurrent, who invented it, and how long has it been around?

Microcurrent is a neuro muscular stimulator. It delivers small electrical pulses that trigger affirming and tightening responses in the skin. It essentially is a workout for the facial muscles.

In 1980 Thomas W Wing introduced a microcurrent device that effectively stimulated muscles in Bell's Palsy and stroke patients with paralysis of the face. Microcurrent has since earned FDA approval and in the early 1990s, microcurrent technology became a cosmetic procedure. Stimulating collagen isn't the only benefit microcurrent offers, it also improves blood circulation, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, removes toxins from the skin, gets rid of puffiness, lifts droopy eyelids, and contours the jaw line.

Who is microcurrent facial for?

All skin types. If you're over 50, you would definitely benefit from a microcurrent treatment. Microcurrent, in a way, is a lunchtime facelift. Results are immediate and long lasting.

Who can NOT receive microcurrent facials?

While microcurrent is a non invasive treatment, there are some contra-indications like epilepsy, pregnancy, heart condition, pacemaker metal plates or pins, cancer, or thrombosis.  How often is this treatment done?  Just like working out, it takes more than one session with microcurrent. You want to start with weekly treatments, and once we have trained the facial muscles to go back to the way they were—tighter and firmer—we can move to monthly treatments. The initial series takes about 8 to 12 sessions and then we'll space out the appointments to monthly or once every other month.

In short, a microcurrent facial is an anti-aging miracle treatment. It's a really great way to prevent signs of aging and maintaining a healthy complexion. And the best part is that it's safe all year round and there's no downtime. Literally, you can get this done on your lunch break and you won't have any redness or anything, which is great.
